Rum & Jerk was born from memories that still sizzle like jerk chicken over an open flame. It's more than a restaurant — it's a celebration of Island roots, flavor, and togetherness.

My journey started far from the bright lights of a dining room. I was the kid taking out the trash at my first restaurant job, eager just to be close to the kitchen. Soon, I learned how to make Jamaican patties from scratch, knead dough for fresh-baked bread, and master the art of cooking traditional island dishes. Over time, I grew into managing a restaurant, discovering that great food is only part of the story — great people and great vibes complete it.

But the true foundation of Rum & Jerk was laid back home in Jamaica, cooking side by side with my grandmother. Those were the days when food was more than a meal — it was an experience. We'd pick cocoa pods from the tree, dry the seeds in the sun, and grind them into rich Jamaican hot chocolate. We'd harvest yellow yam and green bananas for dinner, season fresh-cut goat for curry, and spend Saturday nights making jerk chicken over an outdoor firepit — smoky, spicy, and full of laughter.

Those moments taught me that authentic Jamaican food is not just about recipes — it's about cooking by feel, trusting your instincts, and never needing to measure when the flavors are in your soul.

Rum & Jerk carries that spirit forward. Here, we honor the heritage of rum, once the pride of Caribbean sugar plantations, alongside jerk — a cooking style born in the Maroon hills of Jamaica, seasoned with resilience, fire, and freedom.
